4 Stars The Covenant August 31st, 2004
Reviewer: Breeze from USA

Beverly Lewis drew me in to the world of an Amish family yet again. The series "Abrams' Daughters" are definitely a set that must be read in order, no jumping into the second or third book here. The story flows from one to another and I love the depth to the characters. You get to know them and feel for them with the sorrow and the joy. Leah is an amazing example of a woman who honors her parents as best she can even when it tears her apart.

4 Stars A pretty good start May 15th, 2005
Reviewer: Raina from Illinois

Lewis is an incredible writer. This book I felt was the weakest of the five Abram's Daughters books, but I still recommend reading it to get you going on the others, which are wonderful. One problem, though. She doesn't really end the book; the cliffhanger at the end forces you to read the next book or go crazy wondering. Lewis has a way of truly drawing the reader in; if you read one, you'll have to read them all!

5 Stars Gripping July 19th, 2005
Reviewer: Krista from Chicago, IL

The entire Abram’s Daughters series is phenomenal. The characters are well developed, the story is intriguing, and themes will touch your heart. The entire series spans about 20 years. In this first book, the Amish daughters are relatively young and the two oldest, Leah and Sadie, are around courting age. In this book, Sadie learns valuable lessons about deceit, pride, and the consequences of one’s actions. Meanwhile, Leah is developing a heart for God. The series is full of shocking twists and captivating story lines. This first book will leave you craving more.

4 Stars A page turner! May 15th, 2005
Reviewer: Raina from Illinois

I couldn't put it down. I was a bit depressed at the end, with the cliffhanger and all, but it really was a good book. Lewis ends each book in this series with a cliffhanger, and they're starting to get very frustrating! She has a way of making the reader really care about the characters, even when they're completely responsible for the trouble around them. It's an excellent book, but don't even start with it if you're not willing to read the others in the Abram's Daughters series!

4 Stars Engaging May 15th, 2005
Reviewer: Raina from Illinois

The Betrayal was an improvement from the first book, The Covenant. Lewis has a way of drawing the reader in, making me feel what the character was feeling! At the end of the book, I felt . . . betrayed! The only reason I didn't give it the full five stars was that the book ends on a cliffhanger. Actually, each of the Abram's Daughters books ends that way, which is very frustrating since the fifth book doesn't come out until Summer of 2005. Overall, though, a very good read.

4 Stars Loved it. May 15th, 2005
Reviewer: Raina from Illinois

Finally, it all gets resolved!! Well, not all of it. This book, like the others in the series, ends without closure, which is very frustrating. The most important plotline is finally resolved (mostly), though, so it's not as torturous watiting for number five. Lewis has a way of making the reader truly care about the characters and what happens to them. She weaves together romance, cultureal awareness, mystery, and faith so perfectly. A wonderful read!

5 Stars Fabulous Book! July 14th, 2005
Reviewer: Krista from Chicago, IL

This book was the perfect ending to a captivating series. Abram's Daughters is a fabulous series full of twists, family secrets, and unpredictable situations while continually talking of God's love and how God has impacted the lives of the characters. Mrs. Lewis did an excellent job of fully developing the characters. The work God was doing in their lives was very evident. Each character really changed and progressed during the 20 yr period. This final book resolved many of the questions that remained unanswered in the first two books. Although, one of the final twists was a bit far fetched.

5 Stars Wonderful!! January 3rd, 2006
Reviewer: Nichole from Northern Michigan

The Preachers Daughter is one of the best books I have read in a long time. It is the first book I have read of Beverly Lewis’. The story is intense at times and has a bit of mystery mixed in it. The scenes are nicely detailed. I could hardly put it down. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this new series. In the meantime, I will be finding more of Beverly Lewis’ books to read.
