Short, but Sweet August 19th, 2004

Short, but sweet. The accoustic mix of "He" alone is worth the low ticket price. But a great version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" helps to cap off the CD, along with the title track "Little Drummer Boy." The CD was originally sold to raise money for charity, and whether or not this is still the case, this is still a great Christmas album for anyone to buy . . . but a must-own for any Jars of Clay fan.

This CD is wonderful although it was released twice. I personally prefer the original releasing which instead of "Little Drummer Boy" (Grinch mix) and "Blind" (Fluffy Sav mix) it had "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "He" (Acoustic). If you can I suggest you get the first release but I will comment on both.
Both CDs have the extraordinary rendition of "The Little Drummer Boy" and a great instrumental "Wicker Baskets". I enjoy both songs immensely. "The Little Drummer Boy" is just done beautifully by Jars of Clay. It is awe-inspiring. The vocals are really superb and the music is incredible. "Wicker Baskets" is also a nice soothing song of reflection.
Regarding this CD's songs, the remix of "Drummer Boy" is good as well. I enjoyed the original more but the remix does add some "spice" to the song with some great effects. I personally didn't like the "Blind" remix too much though. It isn't all bad but it didn't seem like it belonged on the CD.
Now the original release of this CD had an excellent version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" on it. The song had exceptional guitar work on it. Then there is the song that I think is the best out of both releases. "He" (acoustic) is just beautiful. It sounds magnificent and is very emotional and touching. Both releases are great and should be added to your personal CD library but if you can try and get the first release. I personally own both and enjoy them both very much.

Not having liked their past two albums, Jars of Clay has again put together a disk that I like. While I still think that their first album is by far their best cd I would definatly say this is their second best cd. It was well produced and their sound is a much more rounded sound this time around. This is a cd worth getting.

While I feel some of the tracks were overplayed on the radio, this is by far my favorite Jars of Clay album. There are a variety of messages that you can pick up through the songs, and the songs are ones you'll want to listen to, and very inspirational. You'll love this CD.

A Return to Roots, of sorts August 18th, 2004

While nothing they will ever do will probably match up with their wonderful self-titled debut, Jars of Clay seems to have hit a return to their roots with "The Eleventh Hour." With hauntingly beautiful tunes like "Something Beautiful" and pensive, slow rockers like "These Ordinary Days," Jars of Clay seems to have hit the notes that worked to well with earlier songs like "Flood," "Love Song for a Savior," and "Worlds Apart." The music is layered more than any previous Jars release, and the vocals more distinctly "Jars" by now. But any way you look at it, this is a superb album, which every Christian accoustic rock fan should own.

While a lot of my friends did not particularly care for this album, I really enjoyed the more experienced sound that my Jars have come out with. Songs like "Scarlet" and "Revolution" really have a different sound than what I am used to. I enjoy the different flavor and can't wait to get some of their newer stuff.

To me, this album is among the most accessible Christian rock albums of our time. The music and production values are amazing. If you are into modern rock, you have to check this disc out. Highly Recommended!

I love Jars of Clay and consider myself an avid listener of theirs, but I give this CD my personal "A++ Gold Star" rating. It speaks to my heart in a way other CDs have yet to even approach. Kudos to them for this recording.
