4 Stars ROCK!! July 15th, 2004
Reviewer: Lauren from USA

What can I say - the fifth and newest Skillet album, Alien Youth, flat out ROCKS! This album has harder songs than some of their previous albums ("Stronger", "Rippin' Me Off"), but it also has some pop-influenced rock songs ("One Real Thing"), and ballads ("You Are My Hope", "Come My Way"). "Thirst Is Taking Over" is a very powerful song! The lyrics are a cry from the heart for God to fill our deep-down thirst for Him. It has a cool beat that I wouldn't have thought of as being "Skillet" - but it really works! The band is expanding themselves to even higher levels musically! "Will You Be There" is a definite first for Skillet! The song is reminiscent of an 80's ballad straight off of a movie soundtrack. John Cooper (bass, lead vocals) and his wife, Korey Cooper (keys, vocals) share vocals in this song, which I might add blend very well together. The duet could be considered a love song, but is actually a song sung to God about His faithfulness. "Kill Me, Heal Me" is one of the rockier songs on the album. It has all the loops, whistles, and industrial sounds of "You're Powerful" (from the band's Invincible album), while still showing the originality of Skillet. The song is about dying to our flesh daily and allowing God to come in and make us more like Him. "Earth Invasion" wasn't one of my favorite songs the first time I listened to the album, but now I love it! The song has really cool lyrics about the kingdom of God infiltrating the planet, and it really keeps the Alien Youth theme. "Join us in the army that's arising, let the truth invade your mind, everyday the kingdom is advancing, the Earth invasion has just begun." Alien Youth is an all-around great album! Skillet has shown their growth musically, and lyrically. The band has proved over the years that they are a staple rock group in Christian music, and with Alien Youth, they are still standing strong.

5 Stars Awesome August 17th, 2004

This is the album that really took Skillet to the top and is a perfect mix of rock, worship and other types of music. I enjoyed it and so will you.

4 Stars The swing back towards rock begins . . . August 19th, 2004
Reviewer: Anonymous

Alien Youth, while still stamped with Skillet's trademark techno-rock, marks a move towards more of a worship-like album. Yeah, I know . . . there are still some hard rock songs, the title track and "Kill Me, Heal Me" notably among them. But a handful of tracks aside from these are softer, harmonized and deftly vocalized by Cooper . . . something unheard of on their self-titled debut. The result is a gorgeous, albeit different sounding album from Skillet.

5 Stars Skillet September 10th, 2004
Reviewer: Mike from Schoolcraft, MI

This is probably Skillet's best CD. I really like the song Vapor (track #2). It reminds us that we are all but a vapor and will soon disappear. Also in the song "Rippin Me off," Skillet expresses their frustration with the world when they say that God is dead or doesn't exsist. I really like listening to this CD when I am working out. It's got the right kind of sound to really make me work harder.

4 Stars Rockin Worship! September 16th, 2004
Reviewer: Glenn from Okinawa, Japan

I love the Skillet sound. Heavy industrial rock, worshipful lyrics, and John Cooper's distinctive voice blend together to create music that's great to listen to. "You Are My Hope" and "Alien Youth" are my favourite songs on this CD. "World-wide Jesus domination, love conquers all Rise like a chosen generation, there's no stopping at all" Check out this album... you won't be disappointed.

5 Stars Good stuff October 8th, 2004
Reviewer: Will from Klamath Falls, OR

This CD has its high points, especially songs like vapor. The songs are hard, and strong, and it is still appropriate for youth groups. as the song meanings and lyrics are directly with no question about Jesus.

5 Stars Mixed bag of goodness October 14th, 2004
Reviewer: David from Minnesota

Though perhaps a bit weaker overall than their previous album, Invincible, this is the album that thrust Skillet into the spotlight, so they must have done something right. There is a mix of hard rock songs, some more techno stuff that recalls their earlier records, and a few softer and more vertical songs. Skillet is known for varying their sound quite a bit from record to record, but there is no doubt that they didn't make a mistake with this record. A few of the songs early on the record ("Alien Youth", "Earth Invasion") help give the record a sort of theme that holds it together,
