The Unseen December 29, 2008
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Franklin

“The Unseen" by T.L. Hines is an anti-socio urban mystery that was unexpected, a bit creepy, and a lot of fun to read. The author of “The Dead Whisper On” and “Walking Lazarus”, Hines opens up an intriguing and uncomfortable consiousness, hiding in the dark spaces with Lucas, the storys main character. Lucas is a people watcher, but not in the same way as you or I may think of it… like being interested and entertained by all the variety of people when you’re at the airport or the shopping mall. Lucas watches people from hidden places in public spaces, living their everyday lives. He is a master of infiltration, and he can position himself to observe others, yet he is completely unseen. The environments described are very well developed, as you are ”seeing” the story through the eyes of someone who is hidden, but watching. Lucas pays attention to the details, and the world he “creeps” around in depends on the details. Hines does a nice job leading the reader page by page with unsuspected shifts and angles, and there are plenty of suprises throughout the book. Lucas’ world of unseen observation is compromised by others who live lives that are similar to his own. This is where the book takes a turn into the heart of the story, and where issues of trust, ethics and faith are explored. Lucas has spent his unseen life completely alone until now. The people who now share a part of his hidden life do not share the same values of right and wrong. And now those others cannot be trusted, especially since they are now following him, too. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a story filled with suspense and imaginative plot twists. The deions are elaborate, and the characters are well developed. Thanks to Mr. Hines for an enjoyable read, and I’ll look forward to his next efforts.
