Author Biography John Eldredge is an author, a counselor, and a teacher. He is also president of Ransomed Heart, a ministry devoted to helping people discover the heart of God, recover their own heart in his love, and learn to live in his Kingdom. John grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles (which he hated), and spent his boyhood summers on his grandfather’s cattle ranch in eastern Oregon (which he loved). John met his wife Stasi in high school (in drama class). But their romance did not begin until they each came to faith in Christ, after high school.
John earned his undergraduate degree in Theater at Cal Poly, and directed a theater company in Los Angeles for several years before moving to Colorado with Focus on the Family, where he taught at the Focus on the Family Institute.
John earned his master’s degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University, under the direction of Larry Crabb and Dan Allender. He worked as a counselor in private practice before launching Ransomed Heart in 2000.
John is the author of many best-selling books with over 10 million in print including Epic, Waking the Dead, Wild at Heart. John's passion is for the healing and restoration of men. He speaks across the globe, but especially loves leading Wild at Heart retreats in Colorado.
John and Stasi live in Colorado Springs with their three sons (Samuel, Blaine and Luke), their golden retriever (Oban), and two horses (Whistle and Kokolo). While all of this is factually true, it somehow misses describing an actual person. He loves the outdoors passionately, and all beauty, Shakespeare, bow hunting, a good cigar, anything having to do with adventure, poetry, March Madness, working in the shop, fly fishing, classic rock, the Tetons, fish tacos, George MacDonald, green tea, buffalo steaks, dark chocolate, wild and open places, horses running, and too much more to name. He also uses the expression “far out” way too much. |

Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul A Look Into the Heart November 5th 2004 by Paula in Illinois
Wild at Heart is one of the top books that I own. John Eldredge helps men see clearly where their heart derived. NOW is the time for men to rediscover what God created their hearts to be. God created us in His own image, there is a special unity between God and us. We are His beloved! Wild at Heart shows you this, and helps you act on it.

Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul awesomely confronting June 15th 2005 by Anonymous in Darwin Australia
This is an awesome book - and I'm only halfway through it! I am understanding myself and women around me alot clearer. I cant wait to read Wild at Heart to try and understand the men in my life.
The first bit talks about how every woman is beautiful, I thought yeah ok I'm beautiful, thats cool, but I sorta didnt realy belive it, and was still struggling with self worth.
When it got to the bit about wounds... ouch its confronting but it is so worth the read - just have the tissues ready girls...
This is one of those mind and heart opening books - you eaither want to devour it, or you have to struggle to keep reading it, because its that revealing.

Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul Freeing! August 11th 2005 by Holly in Las Vegas, NV
This book I highly reccomend for single or married women, and wow is it freeing! It displays Biblical feminity and shows us the myths that society has pushed on us. This book leads to emotional healing and shows how Christian women how we can live Biblically our role in our secular society. It does for women what Wild at heart did for men- great for study groups as well. Even men could learn a lot more about us by reading Captivating!

Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul Life Changing September 30th 2005 by Tara in
This book has changed me in so many ways. Before I got this book, I had a good relationship with God, but this book made me realize how much God is in every part of my life, and how much he truly lives me. It answered all the questions I didn't even know that I had, it explained why women want to be loved, and how God is the only one who can truly complete you. If you find your self worth in God, and listen to his love letter for you, you will never be dissapointed! Through this book I realized that no matter whether I'm single or not, I always have a God who is absolutely crazy about me and will love me no matter what!

Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul Captivating October 3rd 2005 by Mark in Dayton
While this book is excellent for women to validate the core of their being, I think it is absolutely critical for men to read, to understand the women they love and work with. We are starting a study in our men's group of this book, that will hopefully culminate in a panel discussion with women in our women's ministry to more fully understand and appreciate the strength and beauty and tenderness that is woman. Good scriptural reference to content, easy to read and understand.

This is a wonderful book that will change your life, no matter how old you are. It helps you to realize the wounds that have been given to you and the ones that you have given to other people. Then you are taught how to forgive and move on. That Jesus loves you for who you are, flaws and all. This book changed my life and I would highly recomend it to anyone who is willing to make their life better and live fully for God. It is an absolutely amazing, well written book!

Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul Wild At Heart April 17th 2007 by Michael in Porltand, OR
Hands down, this has been the most instrumental book in my life. It is not the Bible, but Eldredge articlulates things I have always known to be true, but I had never been able to describe it. Reading this book along with others about what God intended when He created men will give a reader a Biblical perspective on what they are shooting for when they set out to be a Godly man. I recommend it to all men and even most women.
