Live in San Diego awesome live DVD!! July 15th 2004 by Lauren in USA
I've already watched this DVD a couple of times since receiving it in the mail and it's truly awesome!!
The cameras were able to capture some great angles and put all together they really make you feel like you're at the concert on every level (from front row, to backstage). The lights compliment the stage, the sound is excellent, the hometown crowd is energetic, and the Switchfoot guys put on a great show all around!
I thought the extras were a great addition to the DVD as well. The interview is very well put together, and gives you more insight into the band and its members. The "Meant To Live" video is so rad, and the behind-the-scenes segment is very funny. Surprisingly, I really enjoyed the photo gallery and how it was put together. Usually I find the photo gallerys on music DVDs boring, but the awesome pics put together in slide show form with the instrumental version of "This Is Your Life" really make an enjoyable few minutes.
I definitely recommend this DVD to anyone who likes Switchfoot, or to anyone interested in checking out a really great rock band with true passion for what they do.

The Beautiful Letdown Great Album! July 15th 2004 by Troy in Dallas, TX
Switchfoot really did a great job on this album. Every song is one that you can enjoy and the music is not just the same old cookie cutter rock. You can really feel the emotion of this album. This album is a great tool to get the Truth out to the "MTV" audience. Go buy it today, you won't regret it!

The Beautiful Letdown Oh Yes July 15th 2004 by Brent in
Not only are the tunes fantastic on this album, the words are challenging and encouraging. This is an album for Christians to be proud of, one you can share with secular friends without making them roll their eyes at you. Meant To Live and Dare You To Move are outstanding but that's not to say the other songs aren't. This is the sort of album you'll be able to listen through from beginning to end...with one exception, the title track isn't that great strangely. If your into slightly alternative rock, then this is a must buy. I'm nervous to see what they'll come out with next, how can they top this?

The Beautiful Letdown Almost perfect July 17th 2004 by David in OKC
The only thing I wish Switchfoot would've done more was rock, it's a bit to soft for them, but the songs have amazing lyrics that make you think alot, Meant to live became a mainstream radio hit, and with good reason, it's great what Switchfoot is doing going out with their music. The lyrics also challenge you to do something, like "dare you to move" for example, I would've given this cd a 5, but there we're a few songs, like "adding to the noise" and "the beautiful letdown" but overall this is one of my favorite christian albums.

The Beautiful Letdown WHO doesnt July 21st 2004 by Shannon in Phoenix, AZ
This is an awesome cd! I don't think I've ever heard someone say that they didn't like Switchfoot! This cd is true to Switchfoots history complete with awesome songs that even reach into the secular world! I like every single song on this cd and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat! My favorite is "Gone" because its got that catchy memorable Switchfoot sound and the lyrics are really fun to sing along with. (Although what song of theirs isn't like that!) :) Love this, you just have to buy it, there's no buts about it!

The Beautiful Letdown No Letdown At All. July 22nd 2004 by Randy in Orlando, FL
If you haven't heard about this cd you've been living on another planet. It's making waves in both Christian and Mainstream circles. This cd isn't a letdown at all it's just beautiful. Excellent lyrical and musical quality. This is one of the most impactful Christian cds ever in my opinion. Get it and share it with your non-Christian friends. They'll appreciate it. I feel this is a foretaste of the Switchfoot future...and it's bright!

The Beautiful Letdown Verry cool! July 26th 2004 by Anonymous in N.Y.
This cd was not a letdown in anyway! The cd's strong lyrics have a "dare you to move" attitude that is verry unique. This band definitely has a verry unique, fresh sound that is unlike any other band. I encourage u to check it out!

The Beautiful Letdown Awesome Job!!! July 27th 2004 by Sara in USA
I love this cd! "Meant To Live" & "Gone" & "Adding To the Noise" are 3 of my favorite songs ever! All of the songs are great, though. They have definitely mastered the crossover between pop & rock. 5 stars.

The Beautiful Letdown A Beautiful Album July 28th 2004 by Christopher in CA
Switchfoot is a rare Christian band that strives to made their own sound and own style. It is apparent again with The Beautiful Letdown. Upon first listen, I wasn't particularly thrilled, but it grew on me big time. I've listened to this album from start to finish too many times to count. Favorite fast songs: "Meant To Live," "More Than Fine," and "Redemption. Favorite slow songs: "Twenty-Four" and "On Fire" Sweetness!

 |
The Beautiful Letdown Just Well . . . GREAT! July 30th 2004 by Anonymous in USA

The Beautiful Letdown Awesome August 10th 2004 by Kristen in USA
This album is one of my favorites. "Meant to Live" kicks off the album. I love seeing that video on MTV. The Switchfoot guys rock out -- and they've got something positive to say! "This is Your Life" is really introspective. "This is your life. Are you who you wanna be?" It inspires us to do more than what we're doing. We don't have to settle for the way things are. I love "More than Fine"! It expands on the first two songs, continuing with this theme of not settling in life. I've seen so many people who go through life, just accepting the way the secular world does things because they don't think it's any big deal, or they just don't think things can be different. "Gone" is a really fun song, and one of my favorites. You'll be singing along with the guys on this one! It just talks about how nothing lasts in this world. All the things we worry so much about aren't going to stick with us anyway. They shed a positive light on a subject that could be kind of sad to think about. I really like "Twenty Four", but it's mostly for the mellow, stripped-down sound. It's beautiful.

New Way to Be Human YES!!!! August 12th 2004 by kevina in USA
I bought their newest CD The Beautiful Letdown before this one, and I must say that their style did change a little bit. This one tells more of a story and they have the coolest beats because they are in these Chinese sounding things, which adds to the flavor of the whole. They've come a long way. This is a great Cd, I recommend it.

The Beautiful Letdown This is awesome! August 12th 2004 by Anonymous in USA

The Beautiful Letdown blessed August 13th 2004 by jake in USA
Switchfoot has been extremely blessed. God-honoring lyrics being in the top picks for ALL music in America. They play all over the place, including in bars and other limited-access points of outreach. The Beautiful Letdown has been an amazing release. The lyrics reach into average every-day life. Definitely worth buying if you have not yet done so!

 |
The Beautiful Letdown good cd August 14th 2004 by Anonymous in Round Rock, TX
I liked New Way To Be Human better, but maybe thats just cuz I listened to it more. Meant To Live is the best in my opinion, and I was sorta surprised that SWITCHFOOT put Dare You to Move on this CD. I mean it was on the other one and it wasn't that great. Overall SWITCHFOOT's newest cd is good.
|
 |
New Way to Be Human YE$$$$$$$ August 15th 2004 by kevin in USA
New Way To Be Human is money. All of the songs are great and I think it's the best Wwitchfoot cd to date even including The Beautiful Letdown (which is also good). My favorite track is company car and talks about worldly possessions.

The Beautiful Letdown A vast improvement August 17th 2004 by Stephen in Brighton (England)
I haven't been much of a Switchfoot fan in the past - but I have to say the lyrics and the music on this album are far better than anything that these guys have done before. In fact, it's so much better that this album is possibly one of my best albums!

 |
Legend of Chin Truly Legendary August 19th 2004 by Anonymous in PA
Ever find that some of the best CDs by bands come out before they 'make it big?' Take Switchfoot, for example. I see them doing wonderful things, taking the message of the Gospel to mainstream audiences with "Meant to Live" and "The Beautiful Letdown." But for some really classic Switchfoot, there's nowhere to turn but "The Legend of Chin." From "Might Have Ben Hur" to "You," this album runs the whole gamut of emotions and styles . . . and honestly, just sounds more honest than later (more thoroughly produced) efforts from Switchfoot.

The Beautiful Letdown Great CD August 30th 2004 by Anonymous in Missouri
I typically don't like rock music but I was drawn in by the Pop/Rock sounds of Switchfoot. Enough pop to satisfy the pop need for me and enough rock to keep this CD great. My favorites are "Gone", "Meant To Live", and "Dare You To Move". Everyone needs a copy of this CD.

The Beautiful Letdown The contagious influence that cannot be conained September 1st 2004 by Anonymous in Sydney,Australia
The 11-tracked cut-edging music has been born on the album through personal experiences of the downfalls in life. With song lyrics that connect with each listener who listens and that creates a whole new mindset and mentality towards life. Expressing their way of life and beliefs, the band has captured many listeners who push to see if there is a bigger cause and purpose than themselves to live. Drawing many to their music but esp. to the words, have found them to their new-born success not only in the States, but across many countries as their music pours out rapidly and begins their contagious influence.

The Beautiful Letdown A Rocking Rock cd! September 2nd 2004 by Leah in Malta
This cd was given to me by one of my closest friends as a Christmas gift. I love this cd cuz it's got a good feel to it. Apart that 'dare you to move' is a challanging song within itself, it also made it as a hit song in the movie 'a walk to remember'. This album has some grungy, rockin and even accoustic guitar variation. It has clean cut drum beats. It has wicked awesome good bass lines especially in the 'Redemption' song. Jon's voice once again has succeeded and given praise to Our Almighty Awesome Dad. An awesome cd for those of you who like rock and soft rock. Tracks like 'this is your life' have been a wake up call to me: "this is your life... are you who you wanna be?". A track like "Gone" is just so much fun to listen to again and sing along with, and hits like 'the beautiful letdown' and 'redemption' and 'dare you to move' have made this album a sucess in the Christian music industry. A cd I will definitely treasure cuz of it's good heart quality music!

The Beautiful Letdown Excellent! September 7th 2004 by Elizabeth in Everett
I wasn't sure I was going to like this album when I got it, but after listening to it a few times I realized I loved it! My younger sister absolutely fell in love with the music on this album, and it's really great "music to clean by". One song especially, "Dare You to Move", really touched my heart one day when I was getting tired of the same old routine. The lyrics "I dare you to move, like today never happened before" really lifted me up and gave me a new perspective!

The Beautiful Letdown SWITCHFOOT ROCKS! September 7th 2004 by Anonymous in USA
Switchfoot owns; definitely a must-have cd!! I especially enjoyed Meant to Live and DARE YOU TO MOVE!!!
Some people complain that Switchfoot doesn't have many Christian themes :(
this album definitely sheds some light on that complaint :)

The Beautiful Letdown Unbelievable September 10th 2004 by Anonymous in USA

This album is a must have. If you have never heard of Switchfoot then this is the perfect album to start you off. It was for me. All you other super Switchfoot freaks out there this is the BEST Switchfoot album yet.
Not only does it have an AWESOME beat, but if you listen to the lyrics---they are very touching. So many of their songs have spoken to me. I could go on, but this review would never end, so that just goes to show you how amazing this album is.
THIS DEFINITELY IS A MUST HAVE ALBUM!!!!!!

The Beautiful Letdown GREAT CD! September 21st 2004 by Jacob in USA
Switchfoot, to the mainstream world, is a "new" group. Us christian music vets know they've been around for a while and have put out some great work but this by far is one of their BEST CDs. I love the whole thing, great music, great lyrics, great CD!

The Beautiful Letdown Switchfoot ROCKS!! September 22nd 2004 by Anonymous in The U.S.A
I heard the song "Meant to Live" on the radio and totally loved it. it has this awesome hard rock sound to it. When I heard the whole cd, I loved the song "Gone" for its music and lyrics that made you think. The song "This is your life" has challenging lyrics and a neat sound. This cd has songs from hard rock to a more quiet acoustic sound, and I love it!

The Beautiful Letdown A Must Have! October 6th 2004 by Anonymous in
Switchfoot has been rocking for a while now, but I think this cd may be their best project yet. As can be seen by the success "Meant to Live" had on secular rock radio, the songs on this cd have the ability to reach an enormous amount of people. I think this is crucial for christian bands, to be able to reach more than a small group of people, and this cd and band definitely accomplish that! Great sound and awesome, thought-provoking lyrics!
|
 |
The Beautiful Letdown Love It!!! October 9th 2004 by Sara in Tennessee
Switchfoot has put out yet another incredible album. Their Socratic lyrics are thought-provoking yet not pushy. The music is awesome, so rich in sound. There isn't a song I skip over when listening to it. I think you should all buy a copy if you haven't already, as well as one for your best friend, Sunday School teacher, neighbor, and mailman. It rocks!!

 |
Live in San Diego Just Buy It October 9th 2004 by Sara in Tennessee
If you even remotely like Switchfoot, you should purchase their live DVD. Playing in front of their hometown of San Diego, these guys rock just as incredibly live as they do in their albums. The camera angles make you feel like you aren't missing a thing, and shots into the audience charge the DVD with energy. The bonus interviews give more insight into who the guys of Switchfoot are, and I loved seeing behind the scenes of their video.

The Beautiful Letdown Fantastic Rock Album October 10th 2004 by Glenn in Okinawa, Japan
This album is just fantastic. From the opening guitar lines on "Meant To Live" right to the closing notes of "Twenty-Four", it keeps me listening over and over. Every song has something special, making it hard for me to pick favourites. But here goes...
My picks: "Gone", "On Fire", "More Than Fine" and "This Is Your Life"

 |
The Beautiful Letdown They October 14th 2004 by Jeremy in Illinois
I absolutely love this CD, in fact, it's probably my favorite Christian CD right now. "Gone" is the type of song you just have to play loudly, and many of the softer songs on this album show the reflective, lyrical side of Switchfoot. This is one of those rare CD's where all of the songs are great. If you like Switchfoot, this is a must-have! I can't wait for their next release!!
|
 |
The Beautiful Letdown YOU NEED THIS CD October 14th 2004 by Ashley in Beaver Falls, PA
I love Switchfoot, and this album is amazing. I think everyone can relate to the songs so well. Their style is unique in a lot of ways, they do a good job of mixing rock and pop together. I can listen to it the whole way through and not get bored with it.
|
 |
The Beautiful Letdown Definitely not a letdown October 14th 2004 by David in College
Switchfoot has done a great job on this CD. I love the drama that is portrayed through Jon Foreman's vocals and guitar playing. And the words are all very applicable to today's society. When I heard this CD I went and bought all three of Switchfoot's other albums. This one is the best and I have bought it for two friends of mine already. My favorite song is "Gone." A must have for any fan of Christian music.
|
 |
New Way to Be Human A more upbeat Switchfoot October 14th 2004 by David in College
This is probably Switchfoot's most up-beat and bouncy Cd. It still has some dramatic songs and lots of good lyrics. I especially like "Augustine's Confession." Fun stuff, and the great sound of Switchfoot.
|
 |
Legend of Chin First foot first October 14th 2004 by David in College
This is the first album put out by Switchfoot, and is a good foot for the band to get off on. The songs are witty, and some are meaningfully serious. From "Chem 6a" to "You" the songs vary in speed and content, and they are all good.
|
 |
New Way to Be Human A New Way to Listen to Music October 22nd 2004 by Anonymous in PA
A great second album for anyone to complete. Switchfoot has once again blown me away with there music. Songs such as "Company Car" and "Incomplete" burst forth with an exciting beat yet they still contain the meaningful lyrics that fans are used to. All in all a great CD that any audiophile would enjoy.
|
 |
The Beautiful Letdown Meant To Be Great October 22nd 2004 by Anonymous in PA
A big step up from there last album which I thought was somewhat a disappointment. While the song "Meant to Live" has become somewhat overplayed, as it can be heard on nearly any radio, it is still an excellent start to such a great album. "Gone" is my favorite song as I just can't help but sing along. Songs such as "On Fire" and "Twenty Four" help to slow things down and really get the message across. With this CD make sure you really crank up the volume because I don't think there is anyone who will tell you to "turn off this song." A must have CD that should be on everyone's list.
|
 |
The Beautiful Letdown Very good October 25th 2004 by Anonymous in CA
I really like Switchfoot, and I can't argue that this CD is musically brilliant. However, after listening to the previous couple CDs that Switchfoot has put out, I can't help feeling like they've weakened a little bit lyrically. While their songs are still upbeat and inspiring, it is somewhat more existential/philosphical than the explicitly spiritual lyrics of say, Incomplete. Nevertheless, I would recommend checking out this disc because the message is still positive and the tunes are still rocking.
|
 |
The Beautiful Letdown I LOVE SWITCHFOOT! October 25th 2004 by in TX
This is an AWESOME CD! Switchfoot is an amazing band and this cd is just one more chance for them to show it. The songs on it are all really easy to identify with and rock out to, and overall this CD is a GREAT buy!

Switchfoot: The Early Years Early Switchfoot October 26th 2004 by Anonymous in Rhode Island
I was a fan of Switchfoot long before they hit the mainstream. I bought Legend a year after it came out and gobbled up their next two cds. "The Legend" is a good cd, "New Way" is just great, and "Learning" is perhaps one of my favorite cds of all time. I still love their lyrics as much as their unique music.

Switchfoot: The Early Years Such a great deal!!! November 3rd 2004 by clayton in Edwardsville, Illinois
I just want to tell you that these cds are a must have. Switchfoot not only wrote an awesome album in 'The beautiful letdown' but their first three albums are just as good. I have all of them and I love the fact that you can pop the cds in and let them play through because every track is awesome. Might I add that it took me two years to find 'The legend of chin' cd, but it was well worth it.

 |
Switchfoot: The Early Years Unbelievable Deal!!! November 4th 2004 by Kevin in Worcester, MA
It is definately hard to pass up this deal for those who have only bought The Beautiful Letdown. There first three albums are all excellent and worth it to buy at regular price. But for less $6 each, don't pass this up while it's available.

Switchfoot: The Early Years Finally! November 6th 2004 by Kristin in KY
I always get upset when the mainstream crowd says that The Beautiful Letdown is their debut CD when they have 3 others! In my opinion, Learning to Breathe is the best- so I'm excited that those who are new Switchfoot Fans will get to hear it. And this is a great price too! Everyone should check this out!
|
 |
New Way to Be Human Excellent November 18th 2004 by Anonymous in CA
Ah yes, Switchfoot in their prime. What makes this a great CD is not only its blazing tunes and undeniably clear Christian message but it's comparison with Switchfoot's current sound (which in my opinion is somewhat comprimising). In this album, Switchfoot makes no attempt to hide their beliefs with lines like "please help me believe", and "The God of redemption can break our routine". These lyrics are powerful and perfectly crafted to fit with their music. During this point in Switchfoot's history, I would describe them as more spiritually focused, whereas their later offerings seems to be more existential and philosophical.

 |
Live in San Diego above average November 19th 2004 by Derek in CA
Mostly, I'm not drawn to live performance DVDs, but this one managed to be rather engaging. Jon's vocals are still quite strong without the aid of editing technology so I was really impressed. Beyond the vocals, however, there isn't a lot more other than watching these guys sweat off several pounds. Still, I think it adds to the presentation. Buy it.

Switchfoot: The Early Years switchfoot rocks November 19th 2004 by Anonymous in Maryland
I liked Beautiful Letdown but definitely their older music is just as good, if not better, like "Learning to Breathe." I love this album!

The Beautiful Letdown SWITCHFOOT IS THE BEST! November 26th 2004 by Kieley in Cleveland, TN
Switchfoot is right on the money with their new release. Their introspective lyrics really make you think on such songs as "Dare You to Move" and "This is Your Life. The guitars make this Cd come alive. Jon Foreman rocks the mic on "Meant to Live." The Beautiful Letdown is anything but a letdown.I love this CD and I know you will too!!!

Switchfoot: The Early Years I Dare You to Buy This CD!! November 27th 2004 by lisa in Florida
Each of the 32 songs on this amazing 3-CD set is really deep. I love the songs Learning to Breathe and New Way to Be Human. However, I Dare You to Move takes the cake (in my opinion). The set is so great. To everyone who reads this, I dare you to buy this 3-Switchfoot CD set!!

Legend of Chin The Beginning of Switchfoot! December 5th 2004 by Anonymous in TN
Switchfoot knows how to make their debut album. Even though they were practically teenagers, they wrote some awesome songs such as chem 6a and concrete gir! Trust me, this is a great cd for fans of the beautiful letdown.

The Beautiful Letdown Great January 26th 2005 by Anonymous in
A great album with a beautiful message and music. Songs like "Dare You to Move" and [especially] "This is Your Life" have a powerful feel, reminding you to do what is right; while other songs use a more gruff approach and make use of loud instrumentals that will get you up and jumping around. I highly recommend this album.

The Beautiful Letdown The Best Switchfoot CD to Date February 3rd 2005 by Kelli in Texas
I have been a Switchfoot fan since they first started recording. They have a different sound, but the message is always amazing. Every CD is better than the next and The Beautiful Letdown does not disappoint. They even put the lovely Dare You To Move song on this album too. A definite plus if you don't have their last CD.
Well, I recommend getting yourself a copy and giving them away as gifts. They speak to people of all ages and share the news of Jesus to all, just like real music should be. Have fun listing!! :)
A Definite Must Buy!

I wasn't a huge Switchfoot fan until these guys played a concert at my college. I was hooked afterwards and bought "The Beautiful Letdown". What an amazing array of songs! These guys really know how to rock, and they really know how to write powerful, inspiring lyrics.

Switchfoot: The Early Years New Way To Be A Switchfoot fan March 1st 2005 by Phil in Mid-MO
If you just heard Switchfoot from their recent album, The Beautiful Letdown, than this is a must. It contains three solid albums prior to their breakthrough. Unlike many artists that breakthough, Switchfoot has many great hits on their early years. It also contains the original cover art and inserts from the first three albums. At this price, it is a virtual steal.

The Beautiful Letdown Really Awesome! March 1st 2005 by Tucker in USA
Switchfoot really nailed it with The Beautiful Letdown! This album has so many great songs crammed into it! Meant to Live, Gone, and This is your Life are really good, and Adding to the Noise has an awesome tune to it! You most certainly need to check this one out!

The Beautiful Letdown Switchfoot March 6th 2005 by Jessica in NM
Switchfoot, though now widely accepted by mainstream culture still is not ashamed of their christian music and they are spreading a positive message in an area of unclean lives and messages. This is Your Life was even voted as my class song at a public high school.

The Beautiful Letdown simply wonderful! March 7th 2005 by in Portsmouth, VA
I was blown away! I don't understand how anyone could listen to such powerful lyrics, like in "Meant to Live" or "Dare You to Move" and think it's secular. My favorite is "The Beautiful Letdown" about being the church of the drop-outs, the sinners, the failures, and the fools.
