Intelligence officer Ryan Evans, on the other hand, has lost all hope of ever being the perfect father. His daughter and wife have written him out of their lives.

Everything changes when BoneMan takes Ryan's estranged daughter, Bethany, as his seventh victim. Ryan goes after BoneMan on his own.

But the FBI sees it differently. New evidence points to the suspicion that Ryan is BoneMan. Now the hunter is the hunted, and in the end, only one father will stand.

Simply Beautiful April 12, 2009
                       Reviewer: Marti from

BoneMan’s Daughters is a story of beauty and desire, of hatred and malicious intents, and of the love that is able to penetrate even the hardest hearts. It’s the story of Bethany, a young girl caught between two fathers. First, we have her adopted father, Ryan Evans, who has chosen to remain out of her life, instead burying himself in his job as an Intelligence Officer. It’s not until a botched mission in Fallujah that his desire to be the father he never was manifests, but is it too late to earn her love? Secondly, we have BoneMan, a serial killer who has abducted and killed 6 girls by meticulously breaking each of their bones. He is the perfect father looking for a daughter, and expects no less than perfection from her. Both are vying for the position of father and in the end, only one will stand. When BoneMan abducts Bethany to make her his 7th daughter, Ryan immediately responds. But, the FBI has uncovered new evidence that Ryan is BoneMan. Now pursued by the FBI, he must overcome impossible odds to rescue his daughter. Ted Dekker has yet again woven an intricate and relevant tale that extends beyond its literal interpretation. Often considered a master of his craft, he proves this again with his latest book. BoneMan’s Daughters doesn’t affect on a superficial level, but burrows deep into your mind and continues to pose questions long after you close the cover. It is guaranteed to bring in newcomers to his stories, as well as far exceed to expectations of his fans.

New, Heart-Pounding Ted DeKker Thriller April 12, 2009
                       Reviewer: Stephen from North Carolina

Ryan Evans is a naval intelligence officer with an exceptionally brilliant mind. He has been responsible for saving countless lives through his work in counter-intelligence over the last sixteen years. He is perhaps the best at what he does. That is his professional life. His personal life, on the other hand, has not been so successful. Spending the vast majority of his career away from his wife and daughter, his relationships with them and his resolve to repair those relationships seems beyond his ability and even his concern. That is until his life is changed by his abduction in Fallujah. His world and his world view are turned upside down by the shocking form of interrogation and treatment he received and witnessed at the hands of his captors. When Evans returns, stateside, to try and begin a normal life, he wants nothing more than to reconcile with his wife and especially his daughter, Bethany. That would prove to be challenging, to say the least. Especially when his daughter becomes the target of a psychopath who has previously kidnapped and murdered six other girls. This killer’s method of murder is to break his captor’s bones one by one with meticulous precision, without breaking the skin, until they are dead. It is up to Ryan Evans to find the “Boneman,” as he has been tagged, before it is too late. As brilliant as he may be, this will be nearly impossible as Evans, himself, has become the primary suspect in Bethany’s abduction. Everything goes haywire in this heart-pounding thriller by Ted DeKker, culminating in a breath-taking climax that you won’t believe. Can the man who wants nothing more than to save his daughter and be her father beat the Boneman at his twisted game? Read Boneman’s Daughters and see for yourself.

Intense, thrilling read April 7, 2009
                       Reviewer: Courtney from Milwaukee, WI

The BoneMan is the perfect father looking for the perfect daughter. When his victims don’t meet up to his expectations, he kills them, breaking their bones one by one. Ryan Evans is far from the perfect father. An intelligence officer who’s spent more time poring over data than being home, he’s estranged from his wife and daughter and they want nothing to do with him. But then the BoneMan takes Ryan’s daughter Bethany, and now he will stop at nothing to save her. Dekker’s latest novel does not disappoint. It is an intense, emotional, and deeply disturbing read that lingers long after the last page has been turned. The level and style of writing on Dekker’s part is top-notch, uncompromising in its pace and intensity. Though the content is disturbing at parts, it is meant to be. At times it is an uncomfortable read, not just because of the content, but because of the types of questions that arise because of it. The violence is gruesome, the abandonment felt by Bethany is complete, and the hopelessness seems all-consuming. But through the rich layers of symbolism and meaning woven throughout, Dekker conveys much more than a simple serial killer story. I highly recommend this challenging and intense read–just make sure you keep the lights on.

A Tale of two Fathers April 3, 2009
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from South Carolina

They call him BoneMan, a serial killer who’s abducted six young women. And now he has taken his seventh victim, daughter of protagonist Ryan Evans. Ted Dekker’s newest novel takes the reader from the sands of Iraq to the city of Austin, Texas, snatching the reader along with it and not letting go until the last scene. This novel contrasts two fathers, one who is trying desperately to win a daughter and another who will go to any lengths to find someone who will love him. Evans must find BoneMan before time runs out, but in the end only one father will remain. As one would expect from Dekker, he has woven a tale that combines edge-of-your-seat suspense with deep emotion, involving the reader mentally. Evans poured much of his life into his career, and when he returns from the desert after having his reality shattered, he finds that his family wants nothing to do with him. His actions result in the FBI suspecting him as BoneMan after his daughter is taken, so he is forced to rebuild his life with no one to run to as an ally. What follows are a series of introspective scenes and sequences of actions that could only be performed by a man desperate to restore a lost relationship, all of which kept me wanting to read and wondering what I would do if I were in the same situation. This book contains more violence than many of his other books with the possible exception of When Heaven Weeps. The violence serves a purpose and Dekker does not go out of his way to describe the BoneMan’s killings down to every gory detail, but if the thought of reading about a man who kills his victims by breaking their bones disturbs you, then you may be tempted not to read the book. I do not like reading violence and did not have any trouble with the book, so I think others would be fine. BoneMan’s Daughters is a novel that explores how to mend a broken relationship, from the initial conflict in the desert to the final, stunning scene. If like me you were unsure about reading it, take the risk and purchase it. You won’t be disappointed.

The BoneMan Cometh March 30, 2009
Reviewer: Joshua from North Vernon, IN

One by one the bones break beneath his expert hands. He’s done this many times before. They don’t call him the BoneMan for nothing. It’s not that he wants to kill them necessarily, they just don’t meet up with the standards he’s set for the perfect daughter. And that’s all he wants. Someone to love him like he loves himself. But in his pursuit for perfection, the BoneMan faces a formidable foe. Ryan Evans, father of the BoneMan’s latest victim, is not just going to let his daughter go. Having been subjected to seeing the same sort of torture as a POW in the War on Terror, Ryan can only imagine his daughter placed in that situation. He hasn’t been a perfect father by any means; he’d barely been a part of his daughter’s life. But that experience had brought him closer, made him want to reconcile with his daughter. And now that he was back, this monster had taken her from him, trying to make her his own daughter. With the FBI thinking that Ryan himself is the BoneMan, he lashes out and goes vigilante. The battle between the Ryan and the BoneMan becomes personal. A war of two fathers in which one must fall. Boneman’s Daughter’s exhibits a depth and a breadth that is both heart-pounding and heart-stopping. It is page-turning and riveting. Be prepared for an intricately woven story that examines the depth of one father’s love. Prepare for 4.14.09, clear your schedule because you’ll not want to put this book down, calm yourself, keep the lights on, and enjoy…for behold, the BoneMan cometh.
