WOW 2005 November 26, 2004 Reviewer: Doris from Alabama
I have enjoyed all the WOW videos/DVDs. It gives my daughter and I a chance to see the videos of our favorite Christian songs! We are looking forward to the one for 2005!
Not the greatest November 18, 2004 Reviewer: Derek from CA
I'm a big fan of WOW and have bought every release since 2001. But this years just didn't do it for me. A technical complain I have is that the individual videos are not orthogonal. By that I mean that you can select which video you want to watch and then the DVD just keeps on playing the next one without going back to the menu. Secondly, I just wasn't really impressed with the quality of some of artists' videos. Most of them (Hawk Nelson, Sanctus Real, Third Day, Tree63) are hardly more than live performance videos with no background story or appreciable special effects to make them memorable. And while the KJ-52 video is my favorite, I was disappointed that the audio mixing was so poor that it looks like KJ is badly lip syncing his way throughout the performance.
OK, now the reasons I still like the DVD. KJ's song at the end is by far worth the whole DVD. His videos are always unique, funny, and memorable while still managing to be in-your-face about his beliefs. Casting Crowns' song (American Dream) is a really touching picture of trying to make it rich at the expense of distancing your loved ones. Further, Mark Schultz's beautiful "Letter from War" will leave a lump in your throat. Stacie Orrico's "More to Life" is a creative look at the deeper meaning in life through a variety of different perspectives. Kutless, in my opinion, can do now wrong, so I was very pleased with their simple yet powerful video of "Sea of Faces". Lastly, while Pillar's "Bring me down" may not have been extremely creative (really just a ton of headbanging), their special effects were pretty cool (buildings falling apart, cool lights on their guitars), so I really liked it. You kind of get the feeling that some artists didn't exactly have the budget to put together anything really spectacular (Hawk Nelson, Selah)) while some of the more established artists at least had some options (KJ, Pillar).
Overall, I would still recommend this DVD because it does contain some real gems. Still, in comparison to last year's WOW offering, I would have to rate it a slight step down.
Christian Music Videos August 30, 2004 Reviewer: Anonymous from America
I'm so glad they started the WoW DVD's. A lot of people have no source to Christian music videos with out these DVD's. WoW 2005 is the best way to get all the latest Christian music videos right at your fingertips.
