Product Description

Try combines Bebo Norman's intimate songwriting with a new musical territory, working for the first time with producers Mitch Dane (Jars of Clay, City On A Hill series) and Matt Bronleewe (Michael W. Smith, Natalie Imbruglia, Michael Tait).

Norman says, 'I've never been as excited about one of my records as I am about Try, and the reason is simple?I think I've rediscovered the joy of songwriting with this new project. The songs are very simple, very straightforward, and more than ever, at the heart of where God has me right this minute in this life that I feel so blessed to live.?

Norman's lyrics continue to pull from his own life experiences, as his sincerity is revealed throughout each song. Described by the producers as 'intellectually organic,? this album incorporates well-thought-out instrumentation, including mandolins, dobro and steel guitar.

OK September 14, 2006
                       Reviewer: from NC

I bought this record on a whim and I feel like it was a bit of a waste. Whenever I do listen to it, I only listen to "Finding You," "Nothing Without You," and then skip to the end with "Borrow Mine."

love this album November 30, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from nc

this is one of my all time favorites - i can listen to this cd over and over again and never get tired of it. i recommend it to anyone.

                       Reviewer: Stephanie from Virginia

I just got through reading the reviews, and I can't wait to order this cd. I absolutely KNOW I am going to love it, I already know from listening to my radio station... K-Love, that I love the song "Nothing without you". I want to give an excellent review before I even HEAR the cd. I love when people aren't afraid to put there true feelings and emotions into their music. Praise the Lord for people like that!

Very moving! August 6, 2005

I have been a huge Bebo fan for quite some time now and have found "Try" to be the best. It has been such a moving CD! You'll find yourself worshipping through the whole album! The lyrics really hit home and are very solid! Also the tunes are great and you just feel like smiling when you listen! A must have for all lovers of music!

After God July 29, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from cali

It's amazing how much you can find out about people when you hear the lyrics they sing straight from the heart and the melodies they play. I believe that bebo norman has a heart for God and he obviously shows it through this project.

Great Songs July 26, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Michigan

Great Album! Bebo Norman is a wonderful artist. My favorite song is "Disappear" on this album. Great job done by Bebo!

blessed singer July 12, 2005
                       Reviewer: Benjamin from NY

I highly recommend this cd, it is some of his best work to date. I don't know why this cd got any bad press at all. In his latest work "Try", he has shown his depth as a songwriter and as a singer. His lyrics are deeply touching and very powerful.

Absolutely the best album! March 28, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Lakewood, CO

I just got this CD today and I keep playing it over and over. It is a work of art. Every song on the album is fabulous. I buy a lot of contemporary Christian music and never have I been so moved by a single artist. Thank you Bebo!

Quite possibly one of Bebo March 27, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from McMinnville, OR

I used to think no Bebo album would ever be better than Ten Thousand Days, however Try is a very close rival. Lyricially, Bebo writes some amazing and powerful songs for this album and although he is playing with a full band, his solo, folk style that Bebo has always had shines through. Two thumbs up!

grab it asap! March 19, 2005
                       Reviewer: edison from seattle washington

This is a great deal. it was only 5 dollars!!! but once i started listening to it...its really good and at such a steal! get it because bebo still sings great.

Thank God for Bebo March 16, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from ny

i will seriously have to buy another cd since i have been playing the one i bought everyday, everynight, before i read my bible, and after, and then when i wake up, all the songs too! i don't skip, he is that good. maybe it's his voice, maybe its the words, this cd is a must have, i will be giving this cd to everyone for their birthdays or just cds ... but its my first bebo cd and i have to say, absolutely worth it.

WOW!! February 26, 2005
                       Reviewer: Angela from Auburn, WA

I am a long-time fan of Bebo's and love his honesty and openness. This cd though is different than any of the others he has done before. This cd radiates Joy and victory throughout the music and lyrics. It brings a feeling of depth and understanding that Bebo has reached - contentment and excitement in his God. It is like all the questions he has had disappear for awhile as he realizes all that God is and has done in and through him. He rests in the arms of Jesus. "Nothing Without You", "Disappear", & "Drifting" are some of my favs. They all speak of the fact that I can do nothing without Christ. He alone holds my hand and safely keeps my heart.

INCREDIBLE! February 24, 2005
                       Reviewer: William from Florida

Bebo is an incredible artist. This CD is awesome.

simply wonderful February 22, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from

I had never really listened to Bebo Norman until this CD, and now I'm hooked. Starting on the first track Bebo really shows his gift. I love this Cd for it really focuses the attention on our God. Disappear is my favorite track, a wonderful expression of the conflict of self versus humilty and letting God take over. A great CD!!

                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Seattle

I was introduced to Bebo's music by a friend about five years ago and I haven't stopped listening to him since...a anxiously await each new album and I am never disappointed. His music can be enjoyed in any setting, given any mood.

His Beboness is phenomonal November 14, 2004
                       Reviewer: Allison from Dallas, TX

I've been a fan of Bebo for a while now, and just recently, I saw him on tour with Jason Morant and Bethany Dillion. Two nights later, I purchased this CD. It is the best material I've heard from him. You can tell that the world events influence his writings and that truly reflects his relationship with his Creator. My personal favourite track on "Try" is "Drifting." The choice of lyrics just blows my mind. He is quite possibly the best songwriter that's come along in a long time. Who else can capture the feelings of your heart in ways that even you can't? That is what Bebo does on this album.

Big Blue Sky November 4, 2004
                       Reviewer: Thomas from Chicago, IL

Incredible. This is Bebo's best album BY FAR. I give it four stars out of four. Lyrics and arrangements are awesome. Every song on this CD is a "keeper." I recommend it highly. Tom

Best Cd ever, thanks bebo October 29, 2004
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Illinois

I am so glad that I have purchased this Cd. All the songs in here are truly wonderful and magnificent. My favorite song in the album thus far is "borrow mine", lyrically it is such a moving, deep, hopeful, and encouraging song. It speaks of Bebo Norman's talent and gift as a lyricist. Each word in this song are so powerful because it speaks of hope and never giving up. In one part of the song, he says, "when you are weak, unable to speak, you are not alone, the God who has save us, will never forsake us, is coming to take us, take us to our home." Though I found this song wonderful, I also found this song sad at the same time. In order to understand this, you will have to listen to the song in its entirely. I promise you, you will not be disappointed.

A Great "Try" October 26, 2004
                       Reviewer: Sara from Iowa

Bebo Norman returns to the sound he had on his CD "Ten Thousand Days." On Try, Bebo creates a perfect combination of acoustic guitar and wonderful vocals mixed with amazing harmonies. The lyrics are poignant and revealing. Bebo allows the listener to see his struggles and triumphs through his music. If you are looking for a quality CD featuring superb lyrics, vocals, and acoustic guitar, look no further than Bebo Norman's CD "Try". Buy this CD and you'll gain a new appreciation for Christian Music.

A New Favorite Album October 17, 2004
                       Reviewer: Randy from Orlando

Try is one of the best releases in a long while for the Christian music scene. Excellent musicianship with guests from Jars Of Clay in the studio band! Has the best of Bebo's older material with the hope of a new day and a bright future. Some of his most vertical lyrics. He has matured as a songwriter and musician.

try October 15, 2004
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Georgia

i've heard people raving about this bebo norman guy, so i went ahead and bought his cd. i wanted very bad to see why my friends loved him so much, but i failed to see it. the only track that truly stood out to me was 'borrow mine', and that's track 11. the end of the cd. not much of a statement.

Bebo does it Again October 2, 2004
                       Reviewer: Carlos from Sumter, SC

His folk-rock style with Christ inspired lyrics gives the listener and huge smile on his or her face. If you love Rich Mullins you will love Bebo Norman

Inspired by God... October 1, 2004
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from

This album is amazing. Laid back folk style, Bebo has truly encapsulated his intimate experiences with God on this album. I recommend it to everyone..

Try Again September 30, 2004
Reviewer: Anonymous from San Jose, CA

I know I'll probably get knocked down for this review but I wasn't wowed by the cd. I'm not sure I'm liking the new direction Bebo is taking. With Myself When I Am Real I've felt like the songs sounded all the same. I feel the same way about this new cd. If you're a new Bebo fan I recommend his older music like the classic Ten Thousand Days.

Another Great One September 21, 2004
                       Reviewer: Matthew from Baltimore, MD

I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants some great Christian music. The lyrics are very worshipful and you can't help but praise the Lord while listening to it.

Try a Little Better Bebo September 18, 2004
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from New Hampshire

I love Bebo Norman. He is an awesome singer/songwriter. I believe he is better than Steven or Smitty. However, he is in a rut on this cd. This cd sounds so much like his last ones. The songs kind of blend in. His songwriting comes through and lets me save this cd by giving it a 3. He can do better, I know he can, so here's to Bebo to try a little harder to get through the medocrity, music-wise, with his next cd.

Bebbo Norman September 16, 2004
Reviewer: Randy from San Francisco, CA

This is the first Bebo Norman CD that I bought, and it was great. I love his lyrics and the music. Many of his songs hit home. I recommend this cd.

Bebo September 11, 2004
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from USA

This album is incredible - classic Bebo. From the catchy "Finding You" to the honest "Borrow Mine," it is full of songs that speak truth and encouragement. No one compares to Bebo in my book, but this cd should be on every Christian music lover's shelf. Bebo's way of creating poetic folk music rings true on songs that every one can relate to on some level.

"Try" September 10, 2004
                       Reviewer: Kristen from USA

Something I really love about Bebo's previous CDs is that they grow on you. I always like them from the start, but the more I listen to them, the more I grow to love them. I think that this CD is already having that effect on me. It's fairly new to me right now so I'm still getting into it. "Finding You" is an upbeat song -- a good beginning for the album. The next track, "Nothing Without You" has two versions on the album. One of them is more accoustic and the other has a fuller sound. In the inside of the CD, Bebo says that he included both versions because they affected him in different ways, both wonderful. It's a beautifully heartfelt song, either way. "Disappear" is a great song that seems a little different than some things that Bebo has written in the past (he didn't write this song). It's not a big change, but it's nice. It's got a great chorus to it. "Try" is another good song. It seems to be about Bebo's new bride. He sings, "You make me want to try / You make me want to fight / You make me want to live / You make me want to give..." It's kind of sweet. "Standing in Your Silence" has been an interesting song for me. At first, I wasn't crazy about it, but now I love it! It's fairly upbeat and seems to have more of a typical Bebo folk sound to it. Somehow, it gets me in a great mood...I don't know why. "Soldier" is another song that was not written by Bebo, but it's still a good one. "Just like a soldier / You battle for my soul..." "Yes I Will" is another somewhat upbeat song that will make you smile.

can September 8, 2004
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from PSL, FL

Since I got this CD, its been in my CD player. Bebo's lyrics are so deep and personal, and the music blends perfectly. "Nothing Without You" is one of the best worship songs I've ever heard; "Drifting" is definitely the most unique song I've ever heard, and I love it. There is nothing on "Try" that isn't worth a listen... and once you hear it, you'll have a new favorite.

Bebo Norman September 6, 2004
                       Reviewer: Nikki from USA

I just listened to the samples of each of his songs on this CD, and it sounded very good, and he has a very talented voice. I have never listened to his music other than what I have heard on the radio, but after listening to this, I would definitely give him a try. I think this would be a great CD to listen to during my nightly walks after work to help me relax and spend time with God.

I love this cd! September 4, 2004
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Texas

I just got this cd, and I love listening to it! His writing is original and his message is unavoidable. He talks about hiding in God, a message that I need in times when I'm overwhelmed by this world.

                       Reviewer: Anonymous from US

This is the best Bebo cd EVER!! It's not the style of music that you'd expect from him on some songs, but there's at least one I can remember off the top of my head that just him and his gee-tar :) Great cd!

All grown up........... August 19, 2004
                       Reviewer: Gin from Snellville Georgia

Been a Bebo Norman fan for 4-5 years. His music and lyrics show where is he right now in life emotionally and spiritually. He is truly not afraid to show a piece of his heart through his music. Awesomely accoustic, with a smooth blend of percussion, keyboard and a backup singer who blends like one voice with Bebo's voice.

Soul-Connecting Music August 18, 2004
                       Reviewer: Megan from FL

This album combines some of the most compelling lyrics I've heard with music that will leave you humming. The vocals are amazing, and the words go deep. I can't say enough wonderful things about this CD! Bebo is awesome!

Bebo Norman July 25, 2004
                       Reviewer: Robert from Nashville, TN

Nice to have someone to walk in Rich Mullins footsteps. Rare to find lyrics and music that speak to an old folky like me. If you love great acoustic guitar (I'm a finger-picker myself) and lyrics to make you think, give Bebo a listen. Hard to find a better combination.

Try July 20, 2004
                       Reviewer: tom from columbus, ohio

can't wait for this to come out ! ! ! ! Bebo is my favorite christian music to listen to.... I have all his other music and recommend it highly!

Bebo Norman - Myself When I Am Real July 16, 2004
                       Reviewer: Leah from WA

Bebo Norman is an amazing guitarist and has a wonderful voice. His music is very much acoustic and has a good sound to it. His songs are both slow and fast, and have very good spiritual meaning. I listen to Bebo when I need to relax and calm down. Bebo Norman is amazing.
