Best of Both Worlds December 5, 2007

This CD catches Jars of Clay after their Eleventh Hour tour, and gives a taste of both worlds--the live disc captures the best of their rocking tour, while the studio disc strips down classic favorites and adds some new songs in the acoustic style they would pursue for two more albums. "Worlds Apart" and "This Road" are some of the best of the live disc, while "Needful Hands" and "Dig" are solids on the studio side.

I was very pleased when I listened to both CDs. The acoustic disc gave their old songs a new face. I listened to it about three times before I was satisfied that I had picked up on the variations - very nicely done. The concert disc, as all concert discs usually are, was great! It's always nice to hear the roar of the crowd, the crowd singing and crowd chanting - especially if you've been to a concert, this is an instant walk down memory lane.

Now, in general, I adore Jars of Clay. They're simply awesome. Maybe I'm just addicted to the original versions or something, but I don't really like the "From the Studio" part. Even though I don't generally like live recordings, I prefer the ones from the stage if for no other reason than that they actually sound like the Jars of Clay songs I know and love.

If you love Jars of Clay's sound and especially love their first album you are sure to love this album. Both discs have amazing acoustic guitar and some songs that were originally performed fast, they have slowed down. This album, to me, is like a brand new album because the songs are done differently but in a good way. My favorite disc is the Live one. Great, great, great! Even if you haven't been so ecstatic about their other albums, you are sure to love this if you like acoustic and loved their first album!

The first time I heard this album, I thought it was great. I loved it! The second time, when I sat down and really listened to the words, my heart stopped. As I listened to number 3 on the studio disk, I wept like a child. The words grabbed at my soul and pulled at every string in my heart. This album is amazing and I would recomend it to anyone and everyone!

I really love this 2CD Set, especially CD1, because you get to hear JofC perform many of their popular hits in a new way - acoustically. Overjoyed, Someting Beautiful, Valley Song, Liquid ... each song is special and unique. A great CD set to add to your collection!

Disc 2, "From The Stage" showcases eleven live songs from their first four albums. Great for an introduction to this amazing band, or as an addition to an almost-complete collection. The Jars have outdone themselves again with this greatest hits of sorts. They have done what every amazing christian artist should do, put all of their best work onto one or two cds. This makes a great gift to get someone addicted to Jars, or a nice addition to your existing cd collection. A definite must have!!!
