Product Description

Multi-platinum, Grammy winners Jars of Clay have often claimed that their records begin with a question. The group's latest studio release, Who We Are Instead, tackles the issue of who we are truly called to be as Christians in a world that is not our home. Gracefully balancing the mirror themes of joy and suffering, the band maintains their distinctive harmonies and signature guitar sounds while musically exploring gospel, blues, rock and organic influences. Primarily self-produced in Jars of Clay's own Sputnik Studios, the project also employs the talents of Ron Aniello (Lifehouse, Guster, BNL) as well as friends Ashley Cleveland, Ken Coomer (Wilco) and Ben Mize (Counting Crows).

Excellent Album!! August 24, 2006
                       Reviewer: Alan from Burlington, NJ

This a great album! Almost every song can be listened to over and over. I own just about all of their albums and this one is a favourite. Highly recommended, even if you are a casual fan of the band.

nice album April 3, 2006
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from Xela

Who We Are Instead creates a peaceful and relaxing setting for the listener. A gift of acoustic pop with deep lyrics.

best yet September 1, 2005
                       Reviewer: jhoana from Laguna,Philippines

Some fans might think Jars have gone country, different from the Jars we used to love. That might be true but I could care less, I think this album is their best yet! There is so much depth in every song, the powerful lyrics dealing with the issues of the soul that can only come from the deepest parts of the sincere songwriter's heart. Of course it doesn't hurt either that these guys are four of the finest, most innovative musicians!

masterful July 29, 2005
                       Reviewer: Anonymous from NY

This is one of jars of clay's best. Both slow and fast songs are mesmorizing. Their melodies are impecible and the wonderful message they portray never falters. Great christian, thought-provoking songs, smooth harmonies... what more can you want?

Jars has created a thoughtful, rich album. June 9, 2005
                       Reviewer: tim from Canada

With its mix of Country-Blues-Pop-Rock-Gospel, Jars pulls off one of the most innovative and incredible albums to date. There is so much in this record that one listen simply will not suffice. After repeated listens, not only do you discover the depth of this album, but it gets better and better. Amazing!

Remarkable June 2, 2005
Reviewer: Dawson from Medicine Hat, AB, Canada

This album portrays soulful elegance in its entirety. Soothing-yet-penetrating lyrics captivate the mind and soul, and perfect instrumentation and rhythmic balance combine to unify the work while maintaining distinctiveness between tracks. Who We Are Instead is a superb depiction of the God-given talent manifest in Dan Haseltine and every life invested in Jars Of Clay. Their hearts long for God throughout the album, granting sincerity to every word sung. A genuine inspiration, this album is highly recommended by me for anyone looking for a splendid musical journey for the spirit that is absolutely worth taking.

Jars does it again February 7, 2005

Jars of Clay is definatly one of the best out there and this CD lives up to their name. I can listen to this CD day after day and not get tired of it. It is just that good.

Good, but different September 4, 2004
                       Reviewer: Bryan from USA

This CD is a very good CD, with songs you could sing along to every day. However, it is not the typical Jars of Clay CD, and doesn't seem to carry their style except in Show You Love and I'm In the Way. It is much different, but still a must have.

Simply put, this cd is pretty awesome. There is alot of variety in the music and it sounds great. Unfortunately, nothing like the song Flood. They slowed it down a lil' bit I think. Buy it!

A very good CD August 28, 2004
                       Reviewer: Jayne from Wisconsin

I was very pleased with this CD, as it represents an upbeat, artistic and uplifting theme that carries through the whole album. "Sunny Days", "Sing", "My Heavenly", "Show You Love", and "Trouble Is" are some of the best songs on the album. I definitely recommend this album.
