Downhere is up there! February 27, 2005 Reviewer: Anonymous from Canada
This CD is awesome. When you first listen to it, compared to their debut album, it almost sounds like a different group, but they have just given it more of a rock sound. I love this CD, and this band just gets better and better all the time. Fans of almost any type of music will enjoy this album...it's definitely worth checking out!
A MUST HAVE February 22, 2005 Reviewer: Anonymous from TN
If you are tired of the same old chirstian music you need to give downhere a listen. These guys really know how to break out of the "cookie cutter" christain music scene. Instead of writting music like everyone else on the CCM charts downhere is brave enough to think outside the box while being spiritualy challenging as well. This album mixes killer vocals with amazingly creative lyrical genius. Downhere's sophmore album will not dissappoint you. If you liked the first album by downhere you will LOVE "So Much For Substitutes". There really is no substitute!!!!
No substitute for self-titled debut . . . August 19, 2004 Reviewer: Anonymous from PA
Downhere seems to suffer from too much effort on their second album, "So Much for Substitutes." It is a good album, don't get me wrong. But whereas their self-titled debut seemed so effortless in its execution, so simple in its complexity, their sophomore effort seems unnecessarily overproduced. The track "Iliad" is a great metaphor and a wonderfully mellow ballad, but somewhat complex in its message. Overall, worth looking into – you may love it. But be sure to give their self-titled debut a look too.
