View profile for: Dc Talk
Since releasing their album Jesus Freak, dc Talk has emerged as a leader in the pursuit of melding rock 'n' roll with provocative questions of faith. Although various rock predecessors have examined spiritual issues--U2, Van Morrison, and Bob Dylan immediately come to mind--dc Talk has taken the notion to new lengths, both in commercial terms and depth of artistic exploration. Numerous Dove Awards, three Grammy Awards, two platinum albums, one gold album, and two gold-certified long-form videos attest to the group's ability to bridge the gap between religious and secular audiences. A worthy CD if you don ( ) by Michael in Denver Co
This is a good addition to anyone's library. Plenty of variety and great DC Talk jams.

On a scale of 1-5, Jesus Freak is a 7 ( ) by Russell in Texas
Jesus Freak is arguably the most influential Christian music CD to date. Personally, it inspired me to live unashamedly for Christ. Besides the incredible message it has, there are humorous intermissions, especially the Jesus Freak reprise. The music is great - Toby, Mike, and Kevin are extremely gifted. DC Talk is my all-time favorite band, and Jesus Freak is my all-time favorite record.
Jesus Freak ( ) by Anonymous in USA
In my opinion this album is 10 out of 5! When Jesus Freak first came out it was "ahead of its time". Now almost ten years later Jesus Freak is right on! The album has a great blend of rock/rap, guitar/vocals, easy listening/rock & roll. It a peice of musical art work combined with thought provking/challanging lyrics

This album isn't nearly as musical as other of their albums that come later, but it still has some good music and good lyrics after all.
Wear Out Awesome ( ) by Michelle in CO
I wore out my cd, and have to buy another one. I love this cd, it has to be one of my favorites in this category.
Sampler Platter ( ) by Anonymous in Arizona
Capturing a fitting theme, dc Talk opens their new record, Solo, with a live cover of U2's "40." After the repeated anthem "I will sing, sing a new song" runs its course, what follows is a showcase of new material from Michael Tait, Kmax, and Toby McKeehan. Solo is actually a CD sampler aimed at priming fans for the upcoming release of dc Talk members' three new solo projects. First up, Michael Tait explores relationships in a couple of pop-rock tunes that line up with mainstream top-10 lists. Next, Kmax shoots at funky aesthetics with his poetry-thick brand of art pop. These songs provide substance for those with a taste for the eclectic. Finally, McKeehan delivers a hip-hop/rap-core experience with an undeniable Limp Bizkit influence. When bands stay together for as long as dc Talk have, solo projects are often a natural step in the musicians' development. Three solo projects at the same time may be an unprecedented occurrence, not to mention an assault to the wallet, so choose your favorite Talk carefully.
A Supernatural Hit ( ) by Anonymous in Arizona, USA
This CD is the perfect spinoff to an album like "Jesus Freak". Not only is it as creative and original, this CD is more in-depth and the songs speak more about their faith as oppose to encouragement of others' faith. The songs "Red Letters" and "Into Jesus" are highlights on the CD for their deep subject matter and poetic flow.
My personal favorite is "Consume Me" and was a little surprised to hear that there were people who reviewed this who thought the word satan had been said. This song is deep talking about the bliss and Heavenly presence of God. So, of course I went to listen for the part mentioned and I can certainly see where the mistake was made. But a more thorough listen and you will hear Michael say "I am consumed...I'm consumed with you..." While he's holding this note out Kevin, very quietly, cuts in with "Say(or so) there's no..." Then follows with "There's no other way I can fly..." Again I can understand the error but the thought of dc talk being consumed by the devil is laughable.
For those who have never heard of dc talk I recommend this and the CD "Jesus Freak".
Are You A Jesus Freak? ( ) by Kamy in Texas
This album is for all Jesus Freaks everywhere. The songs praise God, have great lyrics, true meaning and an awesome beat. This is a rockin' CD for the true Jesus Freak at heart.
Bought it by accident but loved it ( ) by Anonymous in Cali
I was looking for a DC talk CD & picked up the wrong CD. I didn't want the live version. I was wrong!!! I love this version of all of these songs. It has a great collection of DC talk hits. The songs done live are excellent. I really don't normally care for live CD's at all. But this time I think it was very well done. The talking before & after songs bugs me a bit but it really isn't so bad.
The best they have to offer! ( ) by Anonymous in Oklahoma
dcTalk has always been one good group. But now they are my favorite! The great songs such as "My Friend" and "Supernatural" are some of the best songs I've ever heard. This is one of the best cd's I've ever bought.
