Skillet Turns Heavy But Retains Their Spirit ( ) by Darren in NC, USA
This latest offering by Skillet is nothing short of amazing; it should be any hard rock fan's collection, and it won't leave your player for some time to come. I had always been a fan of Skillet's techno-rock fuse sound and when I listened to this album, I knew something has matured.
There's still some of the typical techno-synth material threaded in some tunes, however, as a whole this album is geared towards hard rocking guitars and intense drumming. All new are rough and in-your-face lyrics unheard of before. Many times changes in a band's sound mean the demise of them, but with this album it's very opposite. I think Skillet's sound has improved from great to awesome. They did not go over the top trying to change who they are, they simply matured some in their sound and "Collide" is a pristine example of a CD that can be played from start to finish without skipping a track.
The heartfelt lyrics are still what drives this band, and they are still unmistakenly "Skillet", but the addition of driving guitars and a more present drum reliance makes this album a true winner.
ROCK!! ( ) by Lauren in USA
What can I say - the fifth and newest Skillet album, Alien Youth, flat out ROCKS! This album has harder songs than some of their previous albums ("Stronger", "Rippin' Me Off"), but it also has some pop-influenced rock songs ("One Real Thing"), and ballads ("You Are My Hope", "Come My Way").
"Thirst Is Taking Over" is a very powerful song! The lyrics are a cry from the heart for God to fill our deep-down thirst for Him. It has a cool beat that I wouldn't have thought of as being "Skillet" - but it really works! The band is expanding themselves to even higher levels musically! "Will You Be There" is a definite first for Skillet! The song is reminiscent of an 80's ballad straight off of a movie soundtrack. John Cooper (bass, lead vocals) and his wife, Korey Cooper (keys, vocals) share vocals in this song, which I might add blend very well together. The duet could be considered a love song, but is actually a song sung to God about His faithfulness.
"Kill Me, Heal Me" is one of the rockier songs on the album. It has all the loops, whistles, and industrial sounds of "You're Powerful" (from the band's Invincible album), while still showing the originality of Skillet. The song is about dying to our flesh daily and allowing God to come in and make us more like Him. "Earth Invasion" wasn't one of my favorite songs the first time I listened to the album, but now I love it! The song has really cool lyrics about the kingdom of God infiltrating the planet, and it really keeps the Alien Youth theme. "Join us in the army that's arising, let the truth invade your mind, everyday the kingdom is advancing, the Earth invasion has just begun."
Alien Youth is an all-around great album! Skillet has shown their growth musically, and lyrically. The band has proved over the years that they are a staple rock group in Christian music, and with Alien Youth, they are still standing strong.

Skillets new CD was awsome. Everything about it just raised my spirit. "Imperfection" is a great song; so is "Fingernails".
WONDERFUL CD! ( ) by in Boonville, IN
If you even REMOTELY like Christian rock - CHECK THIS OUT!
Skillet combines catchy, powerful guitar riffs with touching, thought-provoking music to create a masterpiece of a CD in "Collide." Almost every song is very good on the CD, especially Savior. This is easily one of the best songs in a long time in the genre because it has a great guitar riffs, pacing, and lyrics. It really gets you thinking about Jesus Christ and His longing for each of us to accept Him as our personal Savior.
There are many other good songs on the CD such as "My Obsession" and even slower, beautiful songs such as "A Little More." This release from Skillet has something everyone will enjoy: it has fast, powerful songs and slower ones, but none ever comprimising the faith that this band so openly expresses. They don't openly use the name of God as much as they previously have, but the message is still there, nonetheless.

The Best CD Ever!!! ( ) by Anonymous in
This is a must have for any Christian music fan! It is a very different type of album from previous Skillet releases, having more of a Rock sound to it than their previous digitalised sound. Collide is my favoriite album, as every track is a hit. It is just one of those albums that you can listen to over and over again, and never tire of it.
few faults ( ) by Mark in Ontario, CA
In what is quite possibly the best Christian rock album to come out in ions, Skillet changes directions musically and still excels. Collide is a different turn for a band who's production has been mostly electronica over the years. This straight up almost goth record is very tasty. I was a little iffy about it after I heard the radio edit of Savior, and I was thinking "this is Skillet rocking out? boooooooooo!!!". Then a friend of mine bought the record and I was blown away. Deep, dark lyrics mixed with John Cooper's raspy voice and Ben Kasica's wonderfully tasty bars where perfect. String arrangements (especially on the title track) are amazing. Every song is wonderfully crafted. The only song I had issue with was A Little More. This song seemed a little cheesy, but the rest of the record more than makes up for it. The power ballad Under My Skin is one of the best produced songs on the record. You must buy this album!!!!!! Did I mention that they do an awesome live show with this new sound?
Hoping to Own It ( ) by Michelle in CO
I heard Savior on the radio and freaked out I loved that song so much. It was interesting trying to find this cd in stores, and had to resort to the internet to find it.
Never Gets Old ( ) by Anonymous in USA
This is the first CD of Skillet's that I've ever owned, and I regret only one thing: I'm just now becoming a fan! This CD is amazing... the guitars and strings are beautiful together, every song has a message in it, and the lyrics are very relatable and inspiring. It's a great buy for anyone.

Skillet is one of the best bands ever! And they've out done themselves with Collide. I can't even see them trying to make another album, because there is no way that they could beat Collide. With songs such as Saviour, Collide, Forsaken, and A Little More, This Cd is the there best work ever.
