Fresh New Face in Christian Rock ( ) by Anonymous in PA
I heard the song "Protest to Praise" on WOW and was moved to buy this album. I have not regretted the move since. These Canadian rockers bring an impressive mix of accoustic rock ("Free Me Up") and worship-like songs ("Great Are You"), giving voice to everyday fears ("So Blue") and hopes ("Protest to Praise"). The bonus track is quiet, but annoying after the first couple listens. But buy the album for the superior musicianship on the first eleven tracks – it's well worth the $$$.
No substitute for self-titled debut . . . ( ) by Anonymous in PA
Downhere seems to suffer from too much effort on their second album, "So Much for Substitutes." It is a good album, don't get me wrong. But whereas their self-titled debut seemed so effortless in its execution, so simple in its complexity, their sophomore effort seems unnecessarily overproduced. The track "Iliad" is a great metaphor and a wonderfully mellow ballad, but somewhat complex in its message. Overall, worth looking into – you may love it. But be sure to give their self-titled debut a look too.
Hidden Gem!! ( ) by in St. Paul, MN
This album is incredible. I got it from my church library and listened to it. The first time was inspiring, but the test of good music is whether it gets better each time you hear it. This album definately does. The track "Great Are You" is a powerful testimony to God's vastness shown in creation. "From Protest to Praise" is a hard hitting testimony about trusting God and praising Him in all circumstances. My favorite, "Calmer of the Storm" has incredibly rich lyrical imagery about trusting God in whatever "storm" you're facing. Pick up this cd if you like Switchfoot, Paul Coleman Trio or anyone like them. downhere has a unique sound and deep lyrics. In my opinion they are a highly underrated band.
A MUST HAVE ( ) by Anonymous in TN
If you are tired of the same old chirstian music you need to give downhere a listen. These guys really know how to break out of the "cookie cutter" christain music scene. Instead of writting music like everyone else on the CCM charts downhere is brave enough to think outside the box while being spiritualy challenging as well. This album mixes killer vocals with amazingly creative lyrical genius. Downhere's sophmore album will not dissappoint you. If you liked the first album by downhere you will LOVE "So Much For Substitutes". There really is no substitute!!!!
WHY ARENT THERE MORE BANDS LIKE THIS??? ( ) by Anonymous in TN
I just can not take this CD out of my player. It has ministered to me in every aspect of my life whether I am in joy or sorrow. "Calmer of The Storm" is one of the most genius songs I have very heard. These guys have an amazing talent and I really hope they are able to make more music like this. BUY THIS CD!!! You wont regret it!
Downhere is up there! ( ) by Anonymous in Canada
This CD is awesome. When you first listen to it, compared to their debut album, it almost sounds like a different group, but they have just given it more of a rock sound. I love this CD, and this band just gets better and better all the time. Fans of almost any type of music will enjoy this album...it's definitely worth checking out!
Good first album! ( ) by Anonymous in Canada
While listening to this CD, you can strongly feel the passion and love for God. Songs like "Calmer of the Storm" make you stop and think, and even shed a tear or two (even for those of us who rarely do that from music!), while others like "Free Me Up" are fun, and easy to listen to. This CD is incredible, because no matter how much you hear it, or what kind of mood you're in, it speaks to you.
Great CD ( ) by Anonymous in
This is a great CD, all the tracks are great I bought it just after seeing them play live and the cd is just as good as seeing them live.

This is a great album and I am so glad that I found it here on your website! These guys are very inspiring and "A Better Way" is such an uplifting song. My kids love singing along to this song, even my 2 year old! Keep up the good work Downhere!
